Common Questions about Our Massage Therapies
We understand you may have questions about our massage therapies.
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions to help you get the most out of your experience at Lavish Wellness.
What types of massage do you offer?
At Lavish Wellness, we offer a variety of massage therapies, including relaxation, Thai, deep tissue, hot stone, sports remedial, aromatherapy, and prenatal massage. Each type is tailored to meet specific needs, whether you’re seeking relaxation, pain relief, or muscle recovery.
How long does a massage session last?
Our massage sessions typically last 60 minutes, 90 minutes, or 120 minutes, depending on your preference and the type of massage. We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to prepare and make sure you get the full benefit of your session.
Should I book an appointment in advance?
Yes, we encourage booking your appointment in advance to make sure we’re available at your preferred time. You can book online through our website or by calling our reception.
What type of oil do you use during massages?
Our therapists exclusively use virgin coconut oil for our massages, excluding hot oil and aromatherapy. This natural oil is known for its numerous benefits, particularly for sensitive skin.
What are the benefits of using virgin coconut oil in massages?
Virgin coconut oil is a highly nourishing and moisturizing oil that is gentle on all skin types, especially sensitive skin. It is rich in antioxidants, which help protect the skin from environmental damage and has natural anti-inflammatory properties that soothe and calm irritated skin. Additionally, its light texture allows it to absorb easily into the skin without clogging pores, leaving your skin feeling soft, smooth, and hydrated after your massage.
What oils do you use for hot oil massage, and what are their benefits?
For our hot oil treatments, we use a blend of jojoba oil and clove oil. This combination provides a deeply nourishing and therapeutic experience.
Jojoba Oil: Known for its moisturising properties, jojoba oil is similar to the natural oils produced by your skin, making it an excellent choice for all skin types. It helps to hydrate and soften the skin without leaving a greasy residue. Jojoba oil also contains vitamins E and B, which support skin health and repair.
Clove Oil: Clove oil is prized for its warming effect, which enhances the benefits of a hot oil massage. It has natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, effectively relieving muscle pain and tension. Clove oil’s antiseptic qualities also help purify the skin, leaving it refreshed and revitalised.
This carefully selected oil blend enhances relaxation, eases muscle tension, and leaves your skin feeling supple and rejuvenated.
What should I wear during the massage? Can I be nude?
During your massage, you have the option to be fully nude or to wear your underwear—whichever makes you feel most comfortable. Rest assured, your privacy is our top priority. We use professional draping techniques with sheets, ensuring that only the area being worked on is exposed at any given time. This method allows you to relax and enjoy the benefits of your massage while maintaining your comfort and privacy.
Can I request a specific therapist?
Absolutely! If you have a preferred therapist, please let us know when booking your appointment. We will do our best to accommodate your request.
What are the health benefits of regular massage?
Regular massage can help reduce stress, relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and enhance overall well-being. It can also aid in recovery from injury and alleviate chronic pain.
Do you offer couples massages?
Yes, we offer couples massages where you and your partner can enjoy a massage together in the same room. It’s a great way to relax and unwind together.
How do I prepare for my massage?
Stay hydrated and avoid eating a heavy meal before your massage. Arrive a few minutes early to relax and decompress before your session begins.
Are there any contraindications for massage?
Certain conditions like deep vein thrombosis, severe osteoporosis, or certain skin infections may be contraindications for therapeutic massage. Please inform your therapist of any medical conditions or concerns you have before the session.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes, we offer gift vouchers that can be purchased online or at our reception. They make a wonderful gift for any occasion!
What should I do if I'm not satisfied with my therapist or session?
Your satisfaction is very important to us. If at any point during your session you feel uncomfortable or are not happy with your therapist or the massage, please let us know immediately. We want to ensure you have the best experience possible, and addressing your concerns right away allows us to make adjustments or, if necessary, provide a different therapist. It’s important to inform us during the session, rather than after it has concluded, so we can take steps to enhance your experience in real time.
Can massage help with sciatica, and what are the benefits?
Yes, massage therapy can be highly beneficial for individuals suffering from sciatica. Sciatica is a condition characterized by pain that radiates along the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower back down through the hips and legs. Massage can provide significant relief by addressing the root causes of sciatica and alleviating its symptoms.
How can massage help with fibromyalgia?
Massage therapy can be a valuable part of managing fibromyalgia, a condition that causes widespread pain and fatigue.
How Massage Helps:
Eases Muscle Pain: Massage relaxes tight muscles and reduces the pain associated with fibromyalgia’s tender points.
Reduces Stress: It promotes relaxation, helping to lower stress levels, which can aggravate fibromyalgia symptoms.
Improves Sleep: By reducing pain and stress, massage can enhance sleep quality, which is often disrupted in fibromyalgia sufferers.
Boosts Overall Well-Being: Regular massage can improve mood and help manage the chronic discomfort that comes with fibromyalgia.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
We understand that things come up. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify us at least 3 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation fee.
